For those of you out there who caught any parts of the Seattle Seahawks-Indianapolis Colts game Sunday, then you’d have to agree that the game had the potential of a one-sided affair; however, to be fair, Seattle would play without quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and offensive tackle Walter Jones, due to injury.

And truth be told, the game was indeed one-sided, as QB Peyton Manning exploited the Seahawks’ secondary for a pair of touchdown passes, enabling Indianapolis to thoroughly annihilate Seattle 34-17 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Along with the usual good work from Manning, the Colts’ run defense was again stifling as they held the Seahawks’ rushing attack – or lack thereof – to a paltry 49 pounds. The Colts commenced the ambush early as Manning led Indianapolis on three scoring drives in the first half, beginning with a 1-yard TD run by running back Donald Brown which gave the Colts an early 7-0 lead.

At the 5:29 mark of the second quarter, Manning connected with Reggei Wayne on a 5-yard TD toss whcih stretched Indianapolis’ advantage to 14-0; Seattle would finally get on the scoreboard as kicker Olindo Mare booted a 38-yard field goal, narrowing the Seahawks’ deficit to 14-3. But Manning would score throw his second touchdown of the game with 3 ticks left in the first half, connecting with WR Austin Collie on a 21-yard score, enabling the Colts to go into halftime with a 21-3 cushion.

The third quarter had only one score as RB Joseph Addai ran in from 12 yards out, stretching the Colts’ advantage to 28-3 with 8:02 remaining in the period; A pair of FG’s by Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri would pad the Indianapolis cushion further at 34-3. Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace would score twice late – once on a 7-yard run and then a 1-yard TD pass to TE Owen Schmitt, although the issue was pretty much decided early on.

Manning had yet another productive outing, going 31-for-41 for 353 yards along with 2 TD’s and an interception while Wallace went 33-for-45 for 257 with a passing and rushing TD. Addai led the Colts’ rushers with 46 yards on 12 carries while Brown added 33 yards on 9 carries; Julius Jones led the anemic Seahawks rushing effort with 25 yards on 11 carries.

TE Dallas Clark led all Indianapolis receivers with 8 recpetions for 80 yards while Reggie Wayne caught 6 for 74 yards and a score; Pierre Garcon added 3 catches for 71 yards while Collie grabbed 6 passes for 65 yards and a TD. T.J. Houshmandzadeh led the Seahawks receivers with 8 catches for 103 yards while Deion Branch grabbed 6 passes for 49 yards.

Indianapolis (4-0) looks to continue their winning ways as they travel to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans next Sunday while Seattle (1-3) hopes to rebound as they return home to host the Jacksonville Jaguars – also next Sunday.
