Holdout for Wayne and Mathis?

Reggie Wayne and Robert Mathis still haven’t gotten their contracts yet, and they want them badly. And according to Bill Polian, with two years left on their contract, they don’t like to pay them anytime soon. Wayne is due about $6M for the next two years.

I guess it’s like LeBron James,” Wayne said, laughing to Indy Star’s Mike Wells.  “Like the Decision.  I guess we gotta see. An hour special coming up.  Decision Part Two.

“We have to see,” Wayne said, getting more serious about the situation.  “We’re just gonna take it day by day.  I would love to see Anderson [University, the new location of the team’s training camp].  I never been there.  When that day comes, we’ll see what’s up.”

Wayne then said he will show up, maybe, even if his contract won’t get replaced.

“We’ve been talking.  A guess you could say that.  But we’re just gonna let them do their thing.  I’m just gonna come and play football.  When that phone rings with the good news, I’ll be excited.”

Once Peyton Manning gets his contract, then the Colts will look to Mathis and Wayne and replace their deals. But this looks like it won’t happen until the labor situation gets fixed and resolved.

It looks like Robert and Reggie are going to need some patience.

And at this point, patience is really going to have to be a virtue.
