Indianapolis Colts 2010 Training Camp: Top 10 Veterans on the Roster

The Indianapolis Colts have started training camp today. I like to point out some nice veterans on the roster.

Some of them still have some darn good stuff left in the tank even though they are getting old. I mean, look at Brett Favre!

Here are the Top Ten veterans on the team’s roster.

10. Joseph Addai

Joseph Addai would have ranked higher on this list if it weren’t for his recent struggles and a little bit of injury problems.

Entering his fifth year in the league, Joseph Addai really needs to step it up. He is two years removed from his last 1,000-yard rushing performance and hasn’t had a real special year since his rookie year.

Donald Brown can compete for the starting job against Addai if he doesn’t step it up.

But Addai has shown he can be elusive and durable still as he is more of an all-around back. We’ve seen the passing, catching, and blocking and he has been darn good at it.

9. Bob Sanders

Bob Sanders would have ranked so much more higher on this list if it weren’t for him getting injured so much.

Sanders is healthy and could be entering his first year of playing all 16 games of the season.

Sanders really pumps up the team with his big hits and motivation and I see him planning to do a lot this season and bringing back his 2007-form.

Entering his seventh year, Sanders is a great veteran to have on the team.

8. Antoine Bethea

Antoine Bethea continues to impress and is one of the top ten free safeties in the league. Along with that, he is one of the top five most underrated players in the league, too.

Entering his fifth year, Bethea is in for a Pro Bowl year . Definitely a special player on the team.

7. Robert Mathis

Robert Mathis was finally recognized last season as one of the top defensive ends in the league. But he could be in risk of his job if he continues to complain about his contract with Jerry Hughes already part of the team.

Mathis is entering his eighth year in the league but still has a ton left in the tank. I think he has a good four or five years left in him.

6. Dallas Clark

Dallas Clark is finally recognized as one of the top tight ends in the league like Mathis is at defensive end.

Clark is now putting up the stats of a receiver, having 100-catches and ten-touchdown years now. He looks to have more good year is he is one of Peyton Manning’s favorite targets.

Entering his eighth year, Clark is a solid veteran on the offense.

5. Gary Brackett

Gary Brackett is often overlooked by the NFL and it’s fans. Since Bob Sanders has missed a bunch since the 2008-09 season, Brackett became the heart and soul of the team’s defense.

Brackett will be entering his eighth year in the league and if he keeps producing, maybe he could finally get a Pro Bowl year.

4. Reggie Wayne

In his tenth year, Wayne has finally been recognized as Peyton Manning’s number one target and has gone over Marvin Harrison’s shadow.

Wayne is coming off a 100-catch, ten-touchdown year and plans to do a lot more this season.

3. Jeff Saturday

Jeff Saturday and Peyton Manning have created the best center-quarterback duo that we have seen in a while. Maybe it is the best we have seen.

I mean, it’s an undrafted center who became famous and teaming up with a No. 1 draft pick who has always been famous. It’s truly a feel good story.

Entering his twelfth year in the league, Saturday won’t be here for long, so Manning and the Colts will miss him a lot and will have to make the most of it.

Indy will never have a center as good as him.

2. Dwight Freeney

Dwight Freeney has been one of the best pass rushers in Colts’ history. Maybe THE BEST.

Entering his ninth season, Freeney doesn’t feel old at all and shouldn’t be after coming off a year with 13.5 sacks.

1. Peyton Manning

At 34 of years of age, Peyton Manning will be entering his 13th year in the league. But don’t worry Colts fans, Manning looks like he will be playing until he is like 43!

He is coming off probably the best year of his career statistically and looks to bring in some more goods for Indy in the 2010-11 season.
