The Indianapolis Colts’ starting center Jeff Saturday was having questions surrounding him. But no worries, Colts’ fans: the man is okay. According to the Indianapolis Star, Saturday undergone a successful arthroscopic surgery. According to the procedure, he had to remove a “loose body.”
Upon returning to Anderson University, where Indy practices for this year’s training camp, Saturday went under immediate rehabilitation. He has only missed practices for the past two days but he also didn’t attend the team workouts either.
The four-time Pro-Bowler never really goes under injuries since he has only missed six of the 160 games he has started in since the year of 2000. Let’s hope he gets better. At 35, he only has a few years left. Let’s hope he makes the most of it.
Team Adds Some Offensive Lineman
A lot of things have been going on between the Colts’ offensive line. The team added some depth chart after Jeff Saturday’s surgery, rookie Jacques McClendon’s latest absences and same with Charlie Johnson, and the release of Andy Alleman.
With these recent happenings, Indy added Adrian Martinez off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and they also signed rookie James Williams. Both men came to practice but Martinez showed up upon late arrival. Williams has a sprained right foot and could miss a few practices since the injury last week.
These injuries to the O-Line could really disrupt the offense. Actually, it might already be disrupting a bit of this already.
“There’s no question about it, there is a lack of continuity,” coach Jim Caldwell said. “Guys are up and down. You have to plug guys in here and there. In the long run, after you’ve gotten the opportunity to look at it, you’ve got to look at it as finding the silver lining.”.
During the afternoon practice, quarterback Peyton Manning had to work with an o-line featuring Jeff Linkenbach at left tackle, Jaimie Thomas at left guard, Jamey Richard at center, Kyle DeVan at right guard, and Ryan Diem at right tackle, according to the Indianapolis Star. Tony Ugoh was supposed to practice today, filling in for Charlie Johnson at left tackle, but was out for the session due to undisclosed reasons.
Heat Really Getting at Indy
The Colts had to hit the showers early due to the heat and humidity. I know this is out of context, but I had the same thing. If you don’t know yet, I play for my school’s football team and I swear I drink like two gallons of water each day. It’s so hot out that you could faint. I know how Indy feels. Not totally, since their practices are probably a hundred times harder.
Tackle Ryan Diem described this as one of the hottest practices.
“On the way over here I think I drank a half-gallon of Gatorade,” he said.
John Gill Out of the Season
It appears John Gill’s season is now over after being arrested for a recent public intoxication. According to a St. Louis newspaper, Gill is placed on the reserve/non-football illness list.
