Former Safety Bob Sanders Inks with the Chargers

Former Colts safety Bob Sanders is officially gone, as he inked a deal with a team the Colts know all too well – the San Diego Chargers.

The former Colts veteran safety agreed to a one-year contract Thursday night. It’s not known as to how much he will get paid to try and revive his career with a team that the Colts lost two in back to back playoff years in 2007 and 2008.

“We are all very excited to add Bob Sanders to our defense,” Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said in a news release. “We have always held him in high regard. He’s a smart, physical, instinctive player. His intensity and playmaking ability can make an immediate impact on our defense.”

Sanders visited Buffalo, Jacksonville and the New York Jets before settling on the Chargers. If he would have stayed with the Colts, he was due a 2011 base salary of $5.5 million along with a $500,000 roster bonus.
