Clark earns role on TV’s ‘Criminal Minds’

Colts tight end Dallas Clark is making a guest appearance on CBS’ “Criminal Minds” television show on April 13, according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star.

Rick Dunkle, a writer for CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” led to Clark being written into an April 13 episode. Dunkle grew up in Franklin, Ind., and is a staunch fan of the Colts, and Clark. They met after the Dec. 19 game against Jacksonville.

Initially, Dunkle had Clark’s brief appearance ending badly.

“The first script had me getting killed,” Clark said. “Rick rewrote it, and now I’m a detective.

“I’m a San Diego detective, Austin Kent. I have two lines. I ask a couple of questions to the main cast and that’s it.”

Clark heads to Los Angeles on Sunday, and his scene will be shot the next day. He’s eager to see the inner workings of the hit series that stars Paget Brewster, Thomas Gibson and Joe Mantegna.

“Just to get a glimpse of their everyday life and see how they act as professionals,” said Clark, whose acting background consists of two classes at the University of Iowa. “I’m excited to talk shop with them.

“At the end of the day, I hope I actually do decent and maybe get a bigger role down the line. You never know what doors it will open for you, so I don’t want to blow this opportunity.”
