Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports work to remove Bob Sanders’ picture from the exterior south side of Lucas Oil Stadium was scheduled to begin Tuesday. It’s no small task since the billboard is approximately 35-by-60 feet.
The Colts terminated Sanders’ contract in February. He subsequently signed with the Chargers. According to chief operating officer Pete Ward, the team will replace Sanders’ picture with a huge horseshoe.
“There are so many players to consider,” Ward said, “but you can’t put everyone up there.” The horseshoe, he added, “is a ‘team’ symbol that we feel is appropriate.”
