Colts Showing Interest in Troy WR Jerrel Jernigan

Wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan from Troy isn’t getting near the press that A.J. Green and Julio Jones are getting in leading up to the draft. Jernigan is projected to be a second or third round pick who could be catching passes from Peyton Manning next year. According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, it’s believed the Colts have shown steady interest in him during their pre-draft evaluations.

At the NFL Scouting Combine Jernigan ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. He can split wide or work out of the slot, and is an accomplished kickoff and punt returner.

At Troy he had 262 receptions for 3,128 yards and 18 touchdowns. He averaged 77 receptions and 930 yards over his final three seasons. As a senior, Jernigan also handled kickoff and punt return duties, returning one of each for a touchdown.
