Colts Move to Defense; Take LSU DL Nevis in Round Three

The Colts shifted their focus from the offensive line to the defensive line in round three, as the team picked Drake Nevis in round three, a defensive linemen from LSU.

Here’s what CBS Sportsline had to say about Nevis and what he can do.

Nevis was the most disruptive SEC defensive lineman this side of Fairley in 2010 with 56 tackles, including a team-high 13 for loss. Nevis doesn’t project as an every-down option in the NFL due to his lack of bulk. And when he added 10 pounds training for the combine — disrupted by a foot injury that kept him out of the Senior Bowl — Nevis was unable to prove he could move with ease at the higher weight, running a 5.06 40 and 7.56 3-cone drill. His 7.76 3-cone drill at LSU’s pro day was even slower. Still, Nevis could prove to be a strong part of a rotation as a penetrating three-technique for a team like the Bears, Colts or Bucs.
