Colts Punter McAfee Tweeting Life Away

Seems that a ton of NFL players are on Twitter these days, with some going overboard (Chad Ochocinco for example), to some just sharing thoughts about life.

One such Colts player who seems to tweet a lot is punter Pat McAfee, who got the attention of Philip Wilson at the Indy Star.

As an NFL punter, typically the most overlooked position on a football team, McAfee jokes he shouldn’t have more than 20 followers. But the punter with personality has more than 18,600.

Twenty minutes later, he hit the cellular phone digits with, “Dude snoring next to me in here.”

McAfee reminds his Twitter work isn’t about just interaction and having fun. Last week, he took his tweets to New York to speak at a “Likeable You” summit. He suggests Twitter is changing everything in eliminating the go-betweens for celebrities and fans.

“I think it’s nice to actually have a voice,” he said. “I can be myself. I don’t have to worry about the Colts finding me or the media or bloggers putting words in my mouth. I can just show people I’m a regular person. I think a lot of things are funny. And I like to share.”

He says he always amuses himself. As his Twitter page advises, “Just Livin.’ Welcome to the party.”

“I tweet often and everything I tweet, in my mind when I read it, I think it’s funny,” he said.
