Rookie CB Chris Rucker Eager To Practice Against Manning

Few details have emerged regarding what transpired at the Colts’ player-run workouts, but reports are quarterback Peyton Manning hasn’t done much throwing as he underwent surgery on his neck this offseason.

Mike McLain of the Tribune Chronicle reports that Colts sixth-round cornerback Chris Rucker is looking forward to facing Manning in practice.

“It’s amazing to be around him,” said Rucker. “Now to be on his team is amazing. I can’t wait to be around him and see him in practice every day.”

A three-year starter at Michigan State, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Rucker joins 2010 third-round pick Kevin Thomas (6-0, 195) as bigger, more physical cornerbacks than the Colts have typically had on their roster. Neither is expected to start, but both have the potential to do so down the line.

“I feel like this is a good situation for me,” Rucker said of landing with the Colts. “It’s not too far away from home, and it’s a good organization to be a part of because they have great leadership.”
