Painter Gets the Call to Start vs Panthers

Colts quarterback Curtis Painter will start against the Panthers on Sunday, Phillip Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports.

A 2009 sixth-round pick out of Purdue, Painter replaced a concussed Kerry Collins in the starting lineup in Week 4. In seven starts, Painter has completed 54.7 percent of 214 pass attempts for 1,315 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Colts replaced an ineffective Painter with Dan Orlovsky in a Week 10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but head coach Jim Caldwell will stick with Painter in the starting lineup against the Panthers, who rank 17th against the pass, but are 31st in passing yards per play.
