Saturday Talking Retirement

Longtime Colts center Jeff Saturday says that he is considering walking away from the game, retiring after making the Pro Bowl for the last seven seasons.

Saturday told reporters about his thoughts while talking about the team firing head coach Jim Caldwell.

“I have my own decision to make long before I worry (about) what the Colts are going to do,” said Saturday. “I’m considering not playing.”

Saturday is 36, and he will hit the free agent market in March if the team does not come to terms with him. He’s been a mainstay for the Colts, starting 188 of his 197 career games, all of which were played with the Colts from 1999-2011.

Saturday is also actively involved in the NFL Players Association, serving on the union’s Executive Committee and playing a key role in the negotiations for a new CBA this past summer.
