End of The Peyton Manning Era? Bruce Arians To Replace Clyde Christensen

Another day in a crazy off-season in which ESPN and NFL Network will truly lose all control when Peyton Manning is traded or released.

This appears to be a certainty, as it would be absurd to pay two quarterbacks so much money while one of them sits for his entire first contract and every coach that Manning has been working with on this offense is now gone.

Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN are reporting that Bruce Arians has been hired as offensive coordinator for the Colts, replacing Clyde Christensen.

Arians’ Steelers offenses have been ranked 9th, 20th, 20th, 12th and 21st in points. Ben was hurt for an important stretch, and the played one of the harshest schedules. Whisenhunt’s were 11th, 9th and 12th.

Arians has been his best often on the biggest stages. While Ben Roethlisberger’s track record in big games is spotty, Arians called a masterful, near-perfect game in the AFC Championship to defeat the Jets early in 2011. If not for turnovers, the Steelers may have been able to win the Super Bowl.

As a coordinator, he’s won 5 postseason games and lost 3.

He earned the respect of most – if not all – the offensive players for the Steelers, and definitely won the respect of someone calling plays against him this year, former Ravens DC and current Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. More AFC North toughness and swagger has arrived on the Colts staff.

  1. Ben Dover says:

As a Steelers fan I have to apologize in advance to Colts fans for the mistake your front office made by hiring Bruce Arians as their new Offensive Coordinator, you’ll understand why about three games into the 2012 season.

With all of the tumult going on in Indianapolis between Jim Irsay and Peyton Manning, and since Ben Roethlisberger is so upset about the departure of Bruce Arians, I make a motion that the Steelers trade him and their first round pick in the 2012 NFL Entry Draft to Indianapolis for Peyton Manning and the Colts 2012 first round pick.

Who is with me? Can I get a second? All in favor say aye.
