The Colts are not about to give up on running back Trent Richardson according to Jim Trotter of ESPN.com.
The Colts really have no choice in the matter, as they gave up their 2014 first-round draft pick to obtain the former No.3-overall pick from the Browns last September.
Richardson went on to be a colossal bust for the Colts as he struggled to learn offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton’s playbook.
Coaches have told Trotter that Richardson has a chance to be a three-down player this season as both Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard are coming back from significant injuries. Richardson seemed to have a better grasp of the offensive scheme during minicamp and is relying more on his instincts as he approaches the line of scrimmage.
Any signs that Richardson is shedding the indecisiveness of 2013 is welcome news for Colts fans. Even better news would be Richardson shedding some weight before training camp to regain some semblance of the burst he showed at the University of Alabama.
