Colts center Ryan Kelly missed today’s practice with a strained left shoulder, the Associated Press reports.
Coach Chuck Pagano says the rookie is considered day to day. Indy opens the preseason Sunday night against Green Bay in the annual Hall of Fame game at Canton, Ohio.
Kelly, Indy’s first-round draft pick in April, was injured during Sunday’s practice and watched the final 90 minutes of action from the side.
He has been in the working with the starters since May and will be replaced initially by Jonotthan Harrison, one of five starting centers quarterback Andrew Luck has taken snaps from over the past four seasons.
It’s better that he sit out and rest the strain than to potentially aggravate the injury further.
