Colts Ask for Permission From Several Teams to Talk to New Potential GM’s

The Colts have requested permission to interview Minnesota Vikings assistant GM George Paton And Seattle Seahawks co-directors of player personnel Trent Kirchner and Scott Fitterer for their general-manager vacancy according to the team’s official website.

In-house candidate Jimmy Raye III is also in the running for the position and may possibly be viewed as the favorite but it sounds like Colts owner Jim Irsay is doing his due diligence. Paton is viewed as the favorite for the 49ers’ GM spot after Kirchner and Fitterer bowed out of the running earlier in the process. Andrew Luck’s presence as a young franchise QB on a long-term deal makes the Colts’ vacancy a very appealing position.

This is going to be a key hire for the Colts organization and they’ve got to make sure they hire the best guy available.
