Rapoport: Josh McDaniels to Take the Colts Coaching Job Once Patriots Season Ends

Fresh off a report this morning from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport saying that Patriots offensive coordinator would prefer the Tennessee Titans job over all the others available, Rapoport is reversing field and reporting that Josh McDaniels is expected to accept the Colts coaching vacancy as soon as the Patriots season is officially over.

Apparently Rapoport was given misleading information from a source or McDaniels was too far along in the Colts’ hiring process-or, just possibly, someone close to McDaniels intentionally leaked the Titans rumor to prod the Colts into finalizing their offer.

McDaniels cannot formally be hired until the Patriots’ playoff run is through. And in choosing the Colts over other possible teams, McDaniels is betting his coaching future on the health of the throwing shoulder of quarterback Andrew Luck.
