The Colts will hold a second interview with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday, Kevin Duffy of Masslive reports.
This represents another opportunity for McDaniels to iron out organizational plans with general manager Chris Ballard, said Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.
As Pelissero outlined, Bill Belichick has a “system” that allows coordinators and coaches to take care of these interviews while the team is still playing.
“What they do is, they get the gameplan in place early enough in the week,” Pelissero said, “and by Thursday or Friday, Belichick will provide time for the coach to interview again. That’s what McDaniels is doing tomorrow with the Colts.”
Indianapolis’ hiring of McDaniels cannot become official until after the Super Bowl, but all signs point to McDaniels heading to the Colts.
