Colts wide receiver Daurice Fountain was carted off the field Thursday afternoon during the team’s joint practice with the Browns with a broken and dislocated left ankle according to George Bremer of CNHI Sports Indiana.
From all indications it was a gruesome and painful scene as Fountain could be heard “screaming from the sideline” and the two teams gathered around in prayer. Colts owner Jim Irsay attempted to console Fountain before he was carted away.
Originally a fifth-round pick out of Northern Iowa in 2018, Fountain appeared in only one game during his rookie season but was reportedly having an excellent training camp before the injury. The 23-year-old’s NFL future is now seriously in doubt.
