Colts Were Screwed by the Officials Sunday After League Admits Wrong First Quarter Call

Losing in overtime on opening day is as tough as it gets. It actually got worse on Tuesday for the Colts through after the league admitted an official’s mistake may have cost them the game.

The NFL admitted to the Colts that referees blew a call in the 1st quarter that ended up turning a Chargers field goal into a Chargers touchdown, four huge points that clearly changed the outlook on the game.

The incident took place on the Chargers’ second drive of the game, after the Colts forced a 22-yard field goal attempt by Ty Long.

The kick was good, but the referees called an unnecessary roughness penalty on defensive tackle Denico Autry.

It gave Los Angeles a first down, and they scored two plays later.

Today the league said that the call was incorrect, a critical mistake that could have helped the Colts in a big time way.
