Colts Acquire QB Carson Wentz From The Eagles For Draft Picks

The Colts have been on the lookout for a quarterback since the moment that Philip Rivers announced his retirement, and now it appears they have their future signal caller in place.

Adam Schefter tweeted out Thursday that that Eagles are sending former first-round pick QB Carson Wentz to the Colts for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first.

Ever since Wentz was benched late in the 2020 season for rookie Jalen Hurts there’s been speculation that the Eagles would move him this offseason.

What comes as a surprise is the fact that the Colts only had to give up a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick.

Over the five years as the starter for the Eagles Wentz went 35-32-1, throwing for 113 touchdowns and 50 picks, including a league high 15 this past 2020 season.

His best season came in 2019 when he threw for 4039 yards in going 9-7 as a starter. He threw 27 touchdowns and 7 picks for the Eagles.

This season the Eagles and Wentz hit rock bottom, going 4-11-1 under Doug Pederson, who was canned at season’s end in a bit of a surprise.

Philadelphia drafted Wentz second overall back in the 2016 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State.
