The grand opening gala for Lucas Oil Stadium happened last night in Indianapolis. There was a crowd of up to two-thousand people filling the mostly complete stadium that will be the new home for the Indianapolis Colts and be the venue for many other events.. Former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann served as master of ceremonies. Stephen Stills from Crosby, Stills and Nash provided musical entertainment as did John Mellencamp, who made a surprise appearance. They were joined by the Fort Wayne Unity Youth Choir and local singing sensation, 11-year-old Marnee from Fort Wayne. The retractable roof was opened and fireworks concluded the evening. The event was by invitation only, the cost 250-dollars.
