Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting the news that most in the NFL have been expecting for the past few weeks.
The Indianapolis Colts and QB Peyton Manning are “parting ways” and an announcement about the decision is coming tomorrow from the Colts.
The move is not at all a shock, as Manning was due a $28 million roster bonus he’s due in his current contract. It was reported that the Colts and Manning were trying to work out a deal to get him to stay, but now it appears that the two sides could not agree on a deal.
Manning is coming back from multiple offseason neck surgeries, and it was widely speculated for some time that the Colts will dump him and move forward with Andrew Luck in April’s draft.
Dumping Manning will make the two-time MVP possibly the most highly sought after free agent in NFL history. Among the suitors will be the Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Kansas City Chiefs.
