Colts Ink Tight End Jack Doyle to Three-Year Contract Extension

The Colts locked up a key component of their offense Friday afternoon, signing versatile tight end Jack Doyle to a three-year contract extension, Jim Ayello and Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star report.

According to a source, the base value of the deal is worth a little more than $21 million, though it could climb to close to $24 million with incentives.

In his seventh NFL season, Doyle was playing in the final year of a three-year, $19 million deal and slated to hit free agency in the offseason.

Instead, the Colts locked up a team leader and critical piece of Frank Reich’s offense for three more seasons. If he plays out the length of the contract, Doyle will have played all 10 of his NFL seasons for his hometown team.
